7's

According to ryan at thisisreverb.com today is a day of 7's, so I thought I would join in on the fun.

7 tips to better computing with windows xp.

Never look at porn...it will lead to serious virus/spyware infections. I know cause I work for a computer tech company that cleans up these sort of infections. People are always worried that we are going to find their collection.

Always use anti virus and spyware protection. But only use one anti virus, the one I recommend is free to use for home users is avg 8.0. This program includes your anti virus and spyware program. You can use multiple sypware programs but I only use 2. The avg program listed above and spybot search and destroy.

Use temp cleaners before every spyware scan. Spyware tends to hide in these areas. There are 2 free programs that I use for this, ccleaner
and atf cleaner.

Run monthly defrags on your computer. Windows has a built in defrag which you can get to by clicking on the start menu -> all programs -> accessories -> system tools -> defrag. Another option is Perfect Disk 2008. This program does cost but you can use it free for 30 days.

Always use firefox 3.0 and never use internet explorer.

Make sure to stay current on windows updates or set it to run automatically. Here is an article about the recent updates, article about updates. To set your computer to recieve automatic updates click on start -> control panel -> switch to classic view on left hand side -> click on automatic updates -> set the schedule, and your done.

My last tip is the best one of all. Buy a MAC! I have been a devoted pc user for my whole life. I am tired of the maintenance windows computers have to go through. PC's will never be obsolete because of their cost, everyone writes programs for pc's, and business always use pc's unless they are in the creative field. So we always have use pc's to some extent, but I am switching to a mac as soon as I can afford it.

7 Jim Bob and Tim Chuck Pictures: Jim Bob and Tim Chuck are fun loving hill billies which were created as part of the White Oak Presbyterian camp program and were later used in young life as a run on (which is basically a skit). They were mainly for comedic relief but they also had duties of handing out mail to the campers.
